Breeding geese for meat is a rather promising business idea. Goose is a gluttonous bird with good meat growth rates. In just 2.5 months, the live weight of the goose is 4-4.5 kg. and ready for slaughter, if it is grown according to the technology of intensive feeding (without additives and chemistry). To achieve such high growth rates, you should still choose a large breed of gander. The yield of meat from the goose reaches 63%, excluding edible offal. The diet of these birds includes a significant part of the most affordable food – greens (and any) and root crops. Such a diet significantly increases the profitability of the geese breeding business.

Today, the demand for goose is growing. After all, large poultry farms supply the market with chicken and turkey meat, but goose meat is produced by small private farms. Nevertheless, geese, like all poultry, have a higher increase in live weight from eaten feed than farm animals. Based on this, we conclude that the “goose” market is not yet monopolized and has little competition.

It is worth noting that the goose itself is not a finicky bird. They are not painful and fairly simple to maintain. It is also important that when breeding geese there is practically no waste. Indeed, absolutely everything is valuable in a goose – from meat to feather. The goose feather is much more valued than ducks, its price is $ 20 per 1 kg. With one gander you can get 100g. pen. In fact, the pen pays off a third of the cost of feed. And goose liver is the main component of the famous and expensive delicacy “Foie gras”.

Intensive feeding technology allows you to reach the weight of an adult gander 4-4.5 kg in the shortest possible time (2.5 months). In order to grow to a driving mass (4-4.5 kg of live weight) in the period of 65-75 days, you do not need to use chemistry and various types of additives. This branch of agriculture does not stand still, and now there is a special method of cultivation that does not impair the quality of meat, feathers and the whole carcass itself. This method is called “intensive.” There are no secrets here, everything is easy and simple.

To quickly profit from breeding geese in this business, you should feed them using intensive feeding technology. The essence of this technology is that young animals from 20-30 days of age are not allowed to pasture. Birds stay in equipped with all necessary pens. In the period from 20 to 75 days, geese are given large quantities of food, and fresh herbs. At the same time, greens are given in the morning and in the evening, which prevents its rapid drying. Soaked feed mixers are placed in the feeders in such a quantity that the chicks ate a portion in 30-40 minutes, this will not allow the stirrer to turn sour. After the soaked hash is eaten, it is necessary to put a new portion in the feeder. In just 70-75 days of its growth, one goose should eat up to 15 kg of animal feed and up to 25 kg of various greens.

We suggest starting to breed geese for meat just from the Kholmogory breed. This breed is easily recognizable, its distinguishing feature is a growth over the beak of a bird. Caring for the geese of the Kholmogorsk breed, you already get downhole birds for 60-65 days. Her weight for this day will be 4kg. or more. These birds are the least whimsical to feeding and keeping, not painful and easily take root in any climatic conditions.

Usually, a bird that reaches 4-4.5 kg of live weight is suitable for slaughter, while the edible part of the slaughtered goose will be about 65%. Such weight, with proper care, geese gain in 2 months. Keeping birds older than 75 days is not recommended, because after 75 days of age feathers actively grow on geese, which then makes the meat stiff. If, nevertheless, for some reason, the goose did not have time to score at this age, then you can do it at the age of 130 days. After 130 days, the feather growth ends and the process of gaining fat in the goose begins. That is why geese older than 130-140 days of age are not suitable for slaughter, because the advantage in goose meat is lost due to stored fat.

The goose business can not only establish a stable meat production with a quick turnover ratio of invested funds, but also organize sales of feathers and down. And this is an additional business idea. For example, a goose feather can already be sold in bedding. But first, consider everything that a business needs to breed geese for meat.

It is worth noting that the most suitable people for this business will be the owners of the private sector, and even better cottages, close to home and, of course, this is the ideal form of stable income for people from the countryside. The fact is that geese, although not picky, will require constant walking.
